Music

Well, first my set up. Yellow Godin Radiator, Arbor cutaway acoustic, Fender 12 string, 1959 Carvin bass, Crate dual 12s,
DOD Grind IT, Danelectro mini amp, Smokey amp, Crybaby wah, daddy-overdrive, zoom 505, and several other things. I love experimenting with sound.
I've never recorded a real album or had studio time. I did the 2007 RPM Challenge and recorded some songs to make an album, but it was all at
home and very rushed. Feel free to listen though. I actually do like some of the songs quite a bit. http://www.virb.com/timwylie.
There are about a billion clips from the old days of college, but most of them are about 20-30 seconds long with
a cool riff or solo that I liked and I never really turned them into much. This is most of the good stuff.
Also, these were all recorded with Cakewalk 7 on a P3 450 so every once in a while the computer would skip and my recording would be messed up.
It is most noticeable in the songs chris, dork, and johnny. But hey, all part of the coolness.
JLive - Be Like Him - [2002] - This is actually my only song
to ever make it onto a cd. From JLive's(Jason Tomlinson) cd Neopoliton. The song was in dropped - D as well, which I used
as an opportunity to play one of my favorite riffs that I've done. It's right before the end of the song, and it sounds awesome
when I manage to keep it together. It's one of those riffs that would be awesome for harder rock, but only works on an acoustic.
Man, I love acoustics. =)
Jason did some pretty awesome stuff and unfortunately this was the only thing we ever worked on together. Hope you
enjoy.
Johnny - [2002] - The chords to this were written by Jon
Edwards who I was very briefly in a band with. Anyway, I took the one track and added in the second guitar, bass, drums,
and solo parts. Some parts are off briefly due to recording them all seperately.
Rich - [2000] - This is actually named after Richie. One of my favorites, and the
only slow picking song you'll find here.
Dem - [2000] - This is usually everyone's favorite song. Listen and you'll see why.
I only had the beginning part so when it starts to speed up, I just made it up as I went. I think you can tell.
Chris - [2000] - Named for Christina actually. Another song that the computer
skipped on several times while I was recording. Not to mention the computer mic didn't get the best quality.
Raw - [2001] - This was more of a "let's see what you can do with these chords while
recording" kind of song. I just hit record and started playing. Then went back in with the solos. Turned out okay. (minus the
one bad chord that I hit)
Dork - [2001] - This is my favorite. The main solo line needs some tweaking near the
end, but I've always loved an acoustic solo over distortion, especially when you feed it through a wah pedal. mmmm..... Plus, I
dare you to find a better ending chord. It just doesn't exist.
Dsong - [2000] - This song was written in dropped D. It's very basic and just gave
me a chance to play open strings and straight bars loud. I like it.
Metal Mexican - [2000] - ummm....I don't know.
Tim Y - [2000] - the beginning four chords were found by tim y. and while he was playing
them I said "wait, do that again", and ......blah blah blah history.
One of the greatest guitar movie solos ever:
Crossroads.
